A Facilities Operations Manager is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of buildings, grounds, and related infrastructure. This includes overseeing custodial, maintenance, and groundskeeping activities, as well as managing contractors and staff. They also play a key role in ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency within the facility.
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise FM teams (cleaning, maintenance, security, etc.)
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance schedules
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Manage vendor contracts and service level agreements (SLAs)
- Handle budget planning, cost control, and reporting
- Monitor KPIs and continuously improve service delivery
Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field
- 7+ years of experience in FM or building operations
- Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing)
- Experience with CMMS or FM software
- Leadership and team management skills
- Knowledge of safety and building codes/regulations
- Budgeting and cost control experience
Nice to have
- FM certifications (e.g., IFMA CFM, FMP, BICSc, NEBOSH)
- Experience in managing multiple sites
- Familiarity with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 41001)
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP)
